New requirements for companies
Business Brunch with Dr. Carlo Piltz on 8 June 2018 in Berlin
As from 25 May 2018, the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO) will apply right across Europe. As a directly applicable law, it will in future govern dealings with personal data in both the B2C and the B2B sector. Agencies and entities which process data must adapt their processes to the new requirements of the DSGVO by that date.
In addition to that, there are the new provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act, which will also apply as from 25 May 2018. So if company agreements on data protection exist at the present time, they will need to be reviewed as regards their conformity with the DSGVO and adapted if necessary.
For cases of non-compliance, the DSGVO makes provision for a drastically increased civil penalty framework. In the worst case, it threatens to impose fines of 20m EUR or 4% of the worldwide annual turnover of the company concerned.
At our Business Brunch we would like to provide you with an overview of the new specifications and make some helpful suggestions for implementing the DSGVO. As our guest speaker, Carolyn Eichler of the Berlin Commission for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BlnBDI) will be presenting some important aspects of the DSGVO and its implementation as seen by the regulatory authority.
