Consequences for functional safety?

Almost every specialist field in the automotive sector has to do with the requirements of the ISO standards regarding the security of electronic systems, functional safety. Just one more reason to get some experts to have another look at the topic as it relates to consumer components. Together, Dr. André Frank of Bosch Engineering GmbH and our own Of Counsel Andreas Reuter will be devoting their attention to the following aspects:

  • liability for defective products – functional safety
  • use of consumer components in safety-relevant systems
  • requirements relating to the quality and reliability of components in the automotive sector

From 2005-2009 Dr. André Frank was in-house consultant on model-based development and functional safety in the Bosch Group. Prior to that, this doctor of physics gathered experience in the field of imaging processes and analyses for the assurance of production quality, and the implementation of the CMMI model in the environment of engine control unit hardware development at Robert Bosch GmbH. Since 2009, Dr. André Frank has been head of the evaluation department for the functional safety of electrical / electronic systems 'Valisure'. Dr. Frank is responsible for planning and conducting safety audit and assessment procedures in the Bosch Group in accordance with the internationally acknowledged safety standard ISO 26262.
