Con­se­quen­ces for func­tion­al safety?

Almost every spe­cia­list field in the auto­mo­ti­ve sec­tor has to do with the requi­re­ments of the ISO stan­dards regar­ding the secu­ri­ty of elec­tro­nic sys­tems, func­tion­al safe­ty. Just one more reason to get some experts to have ano­ther look at the topic as it rela­tes to con­su­mer com­pon­ents. Tog­e­ther, Dr. André Frank of Bosch Engi­nee­ring GmbH and our own Of Coun­sel Andre­as Reu­ter will be devo­ting their atten­ti­on to the fol­lo­wing aspects:

  • lia­bi­li­ty for defec­ti­ve pro­ducts – func­tion­al safety
  • use of con­su­mer com­pon­ents in safety-relevant systems
  • requi­re­ments rela­ting to the qua­li­ty and relia­bi­li­ty of com­pon­ents in the auto­mo­ti­ve sector

From 2005–2009 Dr. André Frank was in-house con­sul­tant on model-based deve­lo­p­ment and func­tion­al safe­ty in the Bosch Group. Pri­or to that, this doc­tor of phy­sics gathe­red expe­ri­ence in the field of ima­ging pro­ces­ses and ana­ly­ses for the assu­rance of pro­duc­tion qua­li­ty, and the imple­men­ta­ti­on of the CMMI model in the envi­ron­ment of engi­ne con­trol unit hard­ware deve­lo­p­ment at Robert Bosch GmbH. Sin­ce 2009, Dr. André Frank has been head of the eva­lua­ti­on depart­ment for the func­tion­al safe­ty of elec­tri­cal / elec­tro­nic sys­tems ‘Vali­su­re’. Dr. Frank is respon­si­ble for plan­ning and con­duc­ting safe­ty audit and assess­ment pro­ce­du­res in the Bosch Group in accordance with the inter­na­tio­nal­ly ack­now­led­ged safe­ty stan­dard ISO 26262.
