To clear up some ques­ti­ons rela­ting to relia­bi­li­ty manage­ment we have been able to enlist the ser­vices of D. Eng. Micha­el Met­ze­le of BPW Ber­gi­sche Ach­sen KG. He will be taking a clo­se look at the fol­lo­wing issues:

  • suc­cess fac­tors in effec­ti­ve relia­bi­li­ty organisation
  • chal­lenges for relia­bi­li­ty manage­ment in the com­mer­cial vehic­le indus­try today and tomorrow
  • field report on the BPW relia­bi­li­ty process

After stu­dy­ing pro­duc­tion engi­nee­ring at the RWTH in Aachen, Dr. Met­ze­le did his doc­to­ra­te at the Chair of Machi­ne Tools, Dept. of Mecha­ni­cal Tech­no­lo­gy. As from 2006 he work­ed at the limi­t­ed com­mer­cial part­ner­ship BPW Ber­gi­sche Ach­sen with its head office in Wiehl, first as head of the qua­li­ty manage­ment depart­ment, and then, from 2011 to the pre­sent day, as divi­sio­nal direc­tor for qua­li­ty con­trol sys­tems. The empha­sis in his work is on orga­ni­sa­tio­nal deve­lo­p­ment and qua­li­ty stra­tegy. He is also respon­si­ble for the intro­duc­tion of a con­ti­nuous relia­bi­li­ty pro­cess at BPW. D. Eng. Micha­el Met­ze­le is a DGQ (Ger­man Qua­li­ty Asso­cia­ti­on) qua­li­ty mana­ger and a black-belt relia­bi­li­ty engi­neer, and is actively invol­ved in con­tri­bu­ting to Volu­mes 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 of the Ger­man Auto­mo­bi­le Indus­try Asso­cia­ti­on (VDA).
