Product reliability via reliability management

To clear up some questions relating to reliability management we have been able to enlist the services of D. Eng. Michael Metzele of BPW Bergische Achsen KG. He will be taking a close look at the following issues:
- success factors in effective reliability organisation
- challenges for reliability management in the commercial vehicle industry today and tomorrow
- field report on the BPW reliability process
After studying production engineering at the RWTH in Aachen, Dr. Metzele did his doctorate at the Chair of Machine Tools, Dept. of Mechanical Technology. As from 2006 he worked at the limited commercial partnership BPW Bergische Achsen with its head office in Wiehl, first as head of the quality management department, and then, from 2011 to the present day, as divisional director for quality control systems. The emphasis in his work is on organisational development and quality strategy. He is also responsible for the introduction of a continuous reliability process at BPW. D. Eng. Michael Metzele is a DGQ (German Quality Association) quality manager and a black-belt reliability engineer, and is actively involved in contributing to Volumes 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 of the German Automobile Industry Association (VDA).
