Mobility sector in a state of change

The Bergisches Städtedreieck – the triangle formed by the towns of Remscheid, Solingen and Wuppertal – has 250 automotive businesses with some 17,000 skilled automotive professionals. To cater to the continual changes on the market, the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the Bergische Struktur- und Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH, funded by the Ministry of the Economy, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, have carried out a study on the future of the automotive sector in the region.

The study summarises the current state of the mobility sector, in particular in the Bergisches Städtedreieck, from a social, industrial, structural, political and legal point of view, provides a view of the developments that can be expected between now and the year 2030, and shows what adaptations need to be made during that period so as to cater to the (technological) developments (see for example autonomous driving / digitalisation).

The authors Daniel Wuhrmann and Thorsten Deeg recapitulate on the political / legal framework for the study (pp. 106 ff.).
