Automotive supplier industry 2019
25–27 September in Kloster Hornbach
Access to foreign markets is indispensable for companies in the automotive industry. Aside from the US market, growth today is concentrated in the following markets: Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America and other emerging markets where the car ownership rate is on the rise [source: VDA]. Keeping up with this growth requires global trade agreements, but supplier contracts can also be used to secure sale revenues. The UN Convention on International Sale of Goods in particular offers options for international supply contracts. We have been able to arrange a presentation by Prof. Dr. Burkhard Piltz, an expert in international contract law, who will shed light on the following aspects:
- Why avoid effective exclusion of the UN CISG?
- Incoterms 2020?
- New developments in international payment guarantees
Prof. Dr. Piltz is a partner in the law firm of Ahlers & Vogel in Hamburg and specializes in international commercial law, particularly international sales contracts and related areas (UN CISG, Incoterms, distribution law, etc.). In addition to his work as an attorney, he frequently served as an arbitrator in international procedures.
Prof. Dr. Piltz is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the European-Latin American Arbitration Association (ELArb) in Hamburg. He is also country expert for Germany at the International Distribution Institute (IDI) in Turin and was Chairman of the Committee for European Contract Law established by the German Federal Bar Association. He is Counsellor to the President of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) and a member of the International Incoterms® 2020 Drafting Group at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris. Burghard Piltz teaches international private law and the UN CISG and was named honorary professor in 1997. Prof. Dr. Piltz has published books about international commercial law and Incoterms and is the publisher of the Münchner Anwaltshandbuch Internationales Wirtschaftsrecht [The Munich Attorney’s Manual of International Business Law].
